KAIRAKU-EN, Mito, Japan
Located in Mito City, Kairakuen is considered along with Kenroku-en and Koraku-en one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. It was commissioned in 1841 by the lord Tokugawa Nariaki as a public garden accessible to all citizens, leading to the development of the idea of public parks.
The garden is endowed with a long history and impressive natural environment, making it an attractive destination for local residents and international visitors. TLA created the master plan and documentation to restore the historical landscape to its original form and beauty with the aim of entrusting this garden to the next generation.
