As part of the development of this master planned academic and hi-tech city TLA planned and designed the exposition grounds under the theme of the new image of science and technology for the human race of the coming 21st century.

 

The landscape design emphasized the contrast between the highly artificial pavilions and other technology on display with the natural environment of Tsukuba. The various zones within the exposition were connected with a sequence of natural open spaces forming a green network throughout the site.

 

Portions of this green space have remained as public space within an industrial park that was developed on the site after the exposition.
